Frequently Asked Questions

To clean your Retainer, rinse it with lukewarm water and brush it with a soft toothbrush. Avoid using toothpaste, as it can be abrasive. Instead, use mild hand soap for cleaning. If needed, you can soak it in a non-alcoholic cleaning solution or a denture cleaner to remove stubborn build-up. Ensure it’s fully dry before storing to avoid bacteria growth.

Your Sports Mouthguard should be rinsed with lukewarm water after each use to remove saliva and debris. Brush it with a soft toothbrush and non-abrasive soap, like hand soap, to keep it clean. Avoid leaving it in direct sunlight or hot water, as heat can distort the material. For deeper cleaning, you can occasionally use a denture cleaner.

Clean your Teeth Whitening Trays by rinsing them with lukewarm water after each use. Avoid using toothpaste or other abrasive cleaners, as this can damage the trays. A mild hand soap can be used for a deeper clean. Be sure to store them in a dry, secure case when not in use to keep them safe between treatments.

With proper cleaning and care, and by selecting the right guard for your level of grinding, a MYMOFOSMILE Night Guard can last 3 years or more. However, we recommend replacing your guard every 1 to 2 years to ensure it stays hygienic and maintains its effectiveness. Heavy grinders may need to replace their guard more regularly due to increased wear. Look for signs like thinning, cracks, or discomfort, which indicate it’s time for a replacement. For replacements or guidance, contact support at support@mymofosmile.com.

Retainers can last well over a year when not experiencing forces from grinding. However, if you notice wear, cracks, or if it no longer fits properly, it may be time for a replacement. Regular cleaning and proper storage will help prolong its lifespan. For replacements or further assistance, email us at support@mymofosmile.com.

Teeth Whitening Trays will only need replacing when your teeth change. To keep them in good condition, store them securely between treatments and avoid exposure to extreme heat. For replacements or guidance, feel free to reach out to support at support@mymofosmile.com.

To ensure your Night Guard lasts as long as possible, store it in the MYMOFO case that comes with your order. This case is designed specifically for your night guard. Avoid placing it in direct sunlight or near any heat sources, as this can warp the material. Always make sure your night guard is clean and fully dry before storing it to prevent moisture buildup, which can lead to bacterial growth or odours.

Store your Retainer in the MYMOFO case provided with your order to protect it from damage. Avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures or leaving it in direct sunlight, as this can affect its shape. Be sure the retainer is clean and dry before placing it in the case, which is designed to maintain its hygiene and fit.

Your Sports Mouthguard should be kept in the MYMOFO case that accompanies your order. This case is made specifically for your sports mouthguard, providing protection between uses. Keep the mouthguard clean and dry before storing it in the case, and avoid exposing it to heat or direct sunlight to prevent warping.

After each use, store your Teeth Whitening Trays in the MYMOFO case provided with your order. This case is designed to protect the trays and keep them hygienic between treatments. Make sure the trays are dry and free from any moisture before storing, and keep the case in a cool, dry environment.

The MYMOFOSMILE Teeth Whitening Kit comes with three whitening gels, enough for one nine-day treatment course, along with custom bleach trays that are moulded to fit both your upper and lower teeth for precise application. If you’ve selected the Teeth Whitening Kit for Sensitive Teeth, you’ll also receive three syringes of desensitising gel to reduce discomfort during treatment.

Results vary, but you should start noticing an improvement in your teeth’s appearance almost immediately after beginning the nine-day whitening course. For optimal results, follow the full course as directed.

The active ingredient in the MYMOFOSMILE Teeth Whitening Gel is 6% hydrogen peroxide, a clinically proven formula that effectively whitens teeth by breaking down stains on the enamel surface. Hydrogen peroxide works by penetrating the tooth’s outer layer (enamel) and breaking down complex molecules that cause discolouration into smaller, less visible molecules, restoring the natural whiteness of your teeth.

The desensitising gel contains potassium nitrate, an active ingredient that helps block nerve signals in your teeth, reducing sensitivity and making the whitening process more comfortable for those with sensitive teeth.

The custom whitening trays in the MYMOFOSMILE Teeth Whitening Kit are made from EVA (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate), a flexible yet durable thermoplastic material. EVA is BPA-free and designed to provide a snug, comfortable fit around your teeth, ensuring the whitening gel is applied precisely for optimal results.

If you experience tooth sensitivity, the Teeth Whitening Kit for Sensitive Teeth is designed for you. It includes a desensitising gel to soothe your teeth during the whitening process and to promote remineralisation, making it a great option for those with sensitive teeth or gums.

We recommend using the Teeth Whitening Kit every 6 months to a year to maintain your results, depending on your lifestyle habits. For individuals who consume staining beverages or foods, more frequent touch-ups (every few months) may be needed to keep your smile bright. You can easily reorder teeth whitening gel and desensitising gel as needed to continue your whitening treatments without discomfort.

• UV Light Mouthpieces: UV light mouthpieces are designed to accelerate the whitening process by activating the gel with light, though the primary whitening still comes from the gel itself. The MYMOFOSMILE Whitening Kit offers a reliable method through custom trays that ensure even application and reduce wastage. The custom-fit design allows for precise gel placement, delivering consistent and effective whitening results.
• Whitening Strips and Pens: Whitening strips and pens provide quick and convenient touch-ups but often lack the precision needed for even whitening across all teeth. Strips may not fully cover teeth, and pens can lead to uneven results. The MYMOFOSMILE Whitening Kit, with its custom trays, provides full coverage and professional-grade gel for more uniform whitening across all teeth.
• Whitening Toothpaste: Whitening toothpaste can help remove surface stains but lacks the ability to provide deep whitening. It’s a great tool for maintaining a white smile but doesn’t deliver the same level of results as a peroxide-based gel system like the MYMOFOSMILE Whitening Kit. The custom trays and professional-grade gel in our kit ensure a more noticeable and long-lasting whitening effect.

Yes, the MYMOFOSMILE Teeth Whitening Kit is safe for enamel when used as directed. The 6% hydrogen peroxide concentration is designed to provide effective whitening while minimising the risk of damage to the enamel. Custom trays help ensure the gel stays on your teeth, preventing unnecessary exposure to your gums and sensitive areas.

No, teeth whitening gels are designed to work on natural teeth and are generally ineffective on dental restorations such as crowns, veneers, or fillings. While the whitening process can brighten the natural teeth around these restorations, the restorations themselves will not be lightened.

The whitening effects from the Teeth Whitening Kit can last for months to over a year, depending on your lifestyle habits. Avoiding foods and drinks that cause staining, such as coffee, tea, or red wine, can help maintain your brighter smile for longer.

To prolong the results of your whitening treatment:

• Avoid staining foods and drinks like coffee, tea, wine, and berries.
• Use a straw when drinking beverages that could stain your teeth.
• Maintain good oral hygiene, brushing and flossing regularly.
• Do occasional touch-up treatments with the Teeth Whitening Kit to keep your smile bright.

If you experience sensitivity during whitening, you can use the included desensitising gel to help soothe discomfort. You can also reduce the wear time of the trays or space out the treatments. Using a toothpaste for sensitive teeth before and after treatment can also help manage sensitivity.

Before whitening, brush your teeth to remove any surface stains, but avoid using toothpaste right before the treatment to prevent gum irritation. During the 9-day whitening course, it’s best to avoid staining foods and drinks (such as coffee, tea, and red wine) as much as possible. If that’s difficult, try using a straw for beverages and rinse your mouth with water after consuming stain-prone items. After each session, maintain good oral hygiene to protect your whitening results.

The most common side effects of teeth whitening include temporary tooth sensitivity and mild gum irritation. These are typically short-lived and can be managed with the desensitising gel or by adjusting the treatment schedule. Always follow the recommended guidelines to ensure safe and effective results.

Whitening is not recommended for individuals with traditional metal braces, as the gel cannot reach the parts of the teeth covered by brackets, leading to uneven results. If you’re wearing clear aligners, whitening treatments may be used in between aligner changes, but always consult your orthodontist first.

While there’s no conclusive evidence that teeth whitening is harmful during pregnancy or breastfeeding, it’s generally recommended to avoid it as a precaution. The active ingredient, hydrogen peroxide, may be absorbed in small amounts. As a precaution, many dental professionals advise waiting until after pregnancy or breastfeeding to use teeth whitening products.

A night guard will act as a retainer when used at night by helping keep your teeth in position while also protecting against grinding forces. However, retainers alone are not built to withstand the pressure from grinding and can wear down quickly. For protection against both grinding and alignment, a Night Guard is recommended.

For good hygiene, we recommend replacing your retainer every 3-6 months. However, with proper care, storage, and minimal wear, retainers can last up to 12 months or more. Watch for signs of wear like cracks or warping, and replace your retainer when necessary.

If your retainer no longer fits properly, it may be due to recent dental work or irregular use. Contact support@mymofosmile.com for assistance in getting a replacement. You may need to have new dental impressions taken for a properly fitting retainer.

No, retainers are designed to keep your teeth in position after orthodontic treatment, not to straighten them. If you are looking to have your teeth straightened, you would need clear aligners or braces. Seek advice from your dentist or orthodontist.

MYMOFOSMILE retainers are made from copolyester (PETG), BPA-free, providing a durable, comfortable, and protective fit.

While retainers are designed for all-purpose wear, they don’t need to be worn all day. However, it is recommended to wear your retainer both day and night for the first three months following orthodontic treatment. MYMOFOSMILE offers a general retainer that is 0.75mm thick, which is the most comfortable for all-day wear. We also offer a Nighttime Retainer, which is 1mm thick for those who grind their teeth or need a more durable option for nighttime use.

Yes! We offer a blue Nighttime Retainer for customers concerned about losing their retainers in bed. It’s a great option for those who often misplace clear retainers.

Our retainers are designed to follow the gum line for the most comfortable and discreet fit. Some people prefer a higher extension up the gums for a more secure fit, while others prefer a straight cut for added comfort. If you would like your retainers cut differently, we can accommodate your preference—just get in touch!

MYMOFOSMILE offers a range of custom sports mouthguards, including options for different sports and impact levels. Our Mouth Guard Classic is ideal for moderate contact sports, while the Mouth Guard Impact+ offers enhanced protection for high-impact activities. We also offer a Kids Mouthguard for growing jaws.

No, MYMOFOSMILE does not currently offer custom sports mouthguards for individuals with braces. You would need to use a non-custom mouthguard or seek advice from your dentist.

A properly fitted mouthguard should be thick enough to absorb shock and protect against dental injuries. A custom mouthguard typically ranges between 4 and 6mm in thickness. Our Mouth Guard Impact+ provides a thicker option for high-impact sports, offering maximum protection.

With proper care, a sports mouthguard can last for multiple seasons. Sports mouthguards typically don’t wear out from frequent or intense use. However, poor care, improper cleaning, or chewing on the guard can reduce its lifespan. If the mouthguard shows signs of thinning, cracking, or warping, it should be replaced.

If your custom sports mouthguard doesn’t fit properly, contact us at support@mymofosmile.com. We’ll guide you through the process to correct the fit or create a new impression if needed. A proper fit is essential for optimal protection and comfort.

Yes, in some cases. If a child is engaged in more physical sports with an expectation of contact, such as martial arts, an adult mouthguard can be considered. However, it’s best to wait until adult teeth have begun growing in for a better fit.

Our sports mouthguards are made from high-quality, durable EVA (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate), a flexible material designed to absorb impact and protect your teeth and gums during sports. All our mouthguards are latex-free and BPA-free.

Custom sports mouthguards, like those offered by MYMOFOSMILE, are made from precise dental impressions, providing a perfect fit. Custom mouthguards stay in place securely and allow for better breathing and talking during sports. This ensures superior protection, comfort, and durability compared to boil-and-bite or store-bought mouthguards, which offer only a semi-custom fit and may not provide adequate protection during high-impact activities.

When designing the Impact+ Sports Guard, our technicians create an imprint of your lower teeth on the bottom of your guard. This feature helps secure your jaw in place, offering a stable and comfortable resting position during physical activity. By ensuring that your jaw is properly aligned, the guard aids in absorbing shocks and reducing the risk of injuries to your teeth and jaw. This additional customisation provides superior protection compared to standard mouthguards, particularly in high-contact sports.

Our Night Guards are made by the same professionals who create them for dentists, using the same high-quality materials. The key difference is that MYMOFOSMILE allows you to take your own impressions at home, making the process more convenient and cost-effective. You’ll receive the same custom-fitted protection without needing multiple dental visits.

Store-bought mouthguards are typically one-size-fits-all, which means they don’t offer the secure fit or comfort that custom-made guards do. MYMOFOSMILE night guards are made from precise dental impressions, ensuring a perfect fit tailored to your teeth, which offers superior comfort, protection, and durability. Store-bought mouthguards often wear out quickly due to improper fit, while custom night guards last longer and provide more effective protection against grinding.

We use high-quality, latex-free, BPA-free, non-allergenic materials to ensure comfort and safety. The material varies by product:

• Bruxism Mouth Guard+ and Thin Mouth Guard: Made from firm Dental Resin, these guards soften slightly at body temperature for a comfortable fit. They can also be adjusted to fit tighter or looser using boiling water when first fitting the guard.
• Mouth Guard Comfort: This product features a hard outer layer for protection and a soft lining to be gentle on your teeth. The hard side is copolyester (PETG), and the soft side is polyurethane (TPU).
• Soft Mouth Guard: This EVA Guard is flexible and gentle on the teeth, with enough thickness to be durable for mild grinding.
• Daytime Mouth Guard: This thin guard is designed like a retainer, but with a soft lining for daytime comfort. The hard side is copolyester (PETG), and the soft side is polyurethane (TPU).

• Bruxism Mouth Guard+: Ideal for severe grinders, this guard offers the highest durability and protection. This guard balances your bite so that all the teeth are evenly touching the guard when you bite down.
• Thin Mouth Guard: Offers less bulk for users who want a lighter, more discreet option.
• Mouth Guard Comfort: Commonly known as a Hard/Soft Splint, these guards combine a soft inner lining with a firm outer layer for added comfort during wear. Available in a range of colours!
• Soft Mouth Guard: Best for mild grinding or clenching, made from softer materials for maximum comfort.
• Daytime Mouth Guard: Designed for use during the day, offering discreet protection for daytime clenching or grinding.

Yes, we do. Although over 90% of people choose an upper night guard, MYMOFOSMILE also offers lower night guards. You can select the option that’s more comfortable or recommended by your dentist. People who prefer a lower night guard may have a class 3 bite (underbite) or may have had dental work on their upper teeth that needs to be avoided. Both upper and lower guards offer adequate protection—it just depends on your personal preference.

If your night guard doesn’t fit well, don’t worry, we have a 7-Day Fit Guarantee! Contact us at support@mymofosmile.com with your MYMOFO ID, product photos, and a description of the issue. Our team will assess the fit and help you resolve the problem. This may include providing advice on adjustments or offering a replacement. However, a poorly fitting guard shouldn’t be used long-term to avoid discomfort or improper protection. If you are experiencing any pain, please stop using the product and await advice from MYMOFO Support.

Yes, it’s normal to feel some discomfort when you first start using a night guard. We recommend wearing your guard for at least 3-5 days to determine if the fit is right for you, as the tightness usually eases as your mouth adjusts to the fit. If discomfort persists after this period, contact us for assistance. We offer a 7-Day Fit Guarantee if it doesn’t fit as expected.

Yes, our night guards are designed to cover only what’s necessary for a secure fit and comfort. Covering only part of the teeth reduces bulk and ensures a more comfortable fit, especially for users who prefer a thinner, less obtrusive guard. Partial coverage doesn’t compromise protection but instead enhances comfort, particularly for users who find bulkier guards intrusive during sleep.

Place the semi-circle ends on either side of your mouth, then squeeze and place the corners of your lips into the slots. It will hold your mouth open so you can take photos of your teeth. Send the photos to support@mymofosmile.com with your MYMOFO ID.

If your teeth don’t fit comfortably in the trays or the sides press on your gums, you can adjust the tray size by softening it in boiling water and moulding it to fit better. Follow our video instructions for a detailed walkthrough of the process.

Each impression takes around 5 minutes from start to finish. This includes 60 seconds to mix the putty, 20 seconds to load it into the tray, and 3.5 minutes to take the impression. Allow 5 minutes to set up and watch the guide video and 5 minutes to take your order photos and register your order. The entire process should take about 30 minutes total.

Yes, you can take a short break between impressions to reset and prepare for the next one. However, once you begin mixing the putty for an impression, you must complete that impression without taking a break, as the putty will set quickly!

Don’t worry! Your kit includes enough material for multiple impressions in case you need to redo one. Check your first impression carefully using our video or photo guide, and contact support if you need any assistance or guidance.

A good impression will show clear, deep grooves of all your teeth, with no distortions or drag marks in the putty. Depending on your teeth and the type of product you have ordered, some small distortions, tears, or shallow areas can be manageable. A Sports Mouthguard will need a clear record of the upper gums, Retainers and Teeth Whitening Trays will need accuracy up to the gum line, and Night Guards will need a clear record of the teeth most of the way up. Check the examples in our impression guide to compare your impressions.

If you’re prone to gagging, it can help to tilt your head slightly forward and focus on breathing through your nose. Relaxing your body and staying calm can also reduce the gag reflex. If you’re still having difficulty, try adjusting the tray for a better fit. If the gag reflex is severe, consider practising placing the empty tray in your mouth first to acclimate to the sensation before adding the putty.

You should return your completed impressions to us as soon as possible after taking them, to allow us to get started on making your order as soon as possible. That said, there is no issue with waiting until a convenient time to drop them at a post office. The impressions will not deteriorate unless they are damaged from force.

No, we offer free express shipping at every stage of the process, covering the delivery of the impression kit to you, the return of your completed impressions, and the final delivery of your custom product. Shipping is handled at no additional cost to ensure a seamless and hassle-free experience.

Unfortunately, our grinding guards and other products cannot be claimed through health insurance, as they don’t fall under dental care covered by insurance policies. You would need to see a dentist for insurance coverage. However, our products may still be more affordable than dental options, and you can contact us if you need further clarification.
